The empty boxes happen because there are more of them than there are items to unpack. Usually the time towards the end of the game progresses after you grab 9 out of 16 or so boxes. It was meant to kind of be replayable but we didn't have the time to do it anymore. Glad you had fun!

Does this game runs in 34 bit?
Really not sure, the package was exported for 64bit Windows. You could give it a try with compatibility mode maybe.
This game was so weird and fun! I had a lot of fun playing it, and unboxing the items even though at one point nothing was being unpacked.
